AI software written in Rust

OpenAI's coding agent, rewritten from TypeScript and Node to Rust for zero-dependency installs, native Linux sandboxing and no garbage collector.

An editor written in Rust down to its GPU renderer and its UI framework. It authored the Agent Client Protocol, whose reference SDK is also Rust, and it ships Zeta, its own open-weight, open-data edit-prediction model.

Offline push-to-talk speech-to-text: a Rust core in a Tauri shell. Its engine is a separate crate, transcribe-rs, which covers Whisper, Parakeet, Moonshine and Voxtral among others, and is usable without the app.

Continuous local screen and audio capture, piped into agent context. The capture and indexing pipeline is Rust; the app surface around it is TypeScript. YC S26.

A manga translator — detection, OCR and translation. The frontend is TypeScript in Tauri and the entire ML pipeline underneath it is Rust on candle, which makes it a complete ML application in Rust end to end. The author's writeup is worth reading if you are considering the same.

Kyutai's speech-text foundation model. The research and training side is Python; the production inference stack was moved from PyTorch to Rust on candle, and served 500,000 sessions from a low-cost GPU cluster. One of Moshi's authors is candle's primary author.
